The child and her doll -always endearing

Country School Kids

I am using a picture here that is from a collection of a friend,Marv Berryman. He went to a country school in Nebraska back in the 1940's and the children spend recess playing on an old merry-go-round. I remember them too, but I went to school in town.

Girl and her dog

This was a great technique where a photo is made into a drawing and then filled in with various colors. I like doing these!

I love texture!

This is a collage I created using a combination of a photo I took along with an old picture and various paints that create crackle effects.

Painting over Photo

Watercolor over a photo creates a glowing effect.

This is a collage I did that is really two cards put together with a painted background and some hand carved stamps. Also painted over the photo with acrylic. I like it.

Fantasy world in a globe

Favorite Colors in a collage

This collage was created with layers of various objects of similar colors. I like the reflective qualities of glass along with fabric and a book which gives the work a message.

Little Lady

A doll holding a doll! I took the face of a favorite doll and added it over a photo, then put in a new background. Interesting to see how the doll comes alive.

Happy Easter! I took this picture while visiting the Broadway Market. It is a Polish tradition to buy food and gifts here during the Easter season and one can purchase all sorts of beautifully decorated eggs. This isn't my own art today, but thought I'd share something for the day.

I Want a Girl

I found a post card and some sheet music that seemed to perfect together, so I took the title from the music and added it with the post card. Also have tried out various shapes to add another touch to the scene. It is spring!

Family Fun

Mother and her children

I like this transformation of the photo. The color is random, but gives this a more painterly look rather than just a colored photo.

Doll Portrait

I love old dolls and save lots of pictures of them. This is a Deanna Durbin doll close-up. I turned her into a painting. Could use more shadows and highlights, but I still like the expression.

Child and her doll

I did something different here and tried out various brushed and colors over a photograph. I like painterly effects mixed with pictures. This is a good way to try ideas and then use some with real materials later.

Alice visits the garden

I took this picture at the botanical gardens and have added a Victorian child to the scene.

Book and Cloth

I love old books so decided to combine this one with some fabric patterns that add to the flower theme on the cover. The patterns had to be stretched to fit the space.

Layered Look

I enjoy layering a variety of materials as it adds a sense of mystery to them. I've repeated some pieces many times to fill in the background and then add more pictures over them.

I created an abstract painting with fabric samples and cloned a variety of them onto a new canvas. Then turned it into a watercolor painting.
