I had to see what you meant by "soul" and I think you're absolutely right. I feel that way about certain dolls that I just had to have, some from when I was a child (Tiny Tears) but one I never owned, but whose face touched me: a 60s Whimsy doll called Heddagedbedda. Knob on head changed face! Go figure.
