Art by Corban LePell and visit to his home.

I visited with Corban LePell in Sept. of 2016 in Oakland,CA. We had first met back in 1955 at the Uni. of Nebraska when I was a student and Corban was also a student at UN. I was very impressed with him as he seemed to me the perfect idea of what an artist should look like. I bought one of his paintings and still have it in my home to this day.  We got back in touch by phone after all these years and talked often. He invited me to come out for a visit and I decided to go.  He had been a professor of art at Hayward State for 40 years and had changed his art style from expressionism to realism. We spent an afternoon looking through his flat files of his art work and old photos of him as I had remembered him in the 1950's.  I will add pictures here to recreate the day.  Corban passed away in May of 2018. I am glad we did reconnect before he left us.
